Depot Connect International Sells Rail Services to Clean Harbors, Streamlining Business Focus
Depot Connect International Takes Strategic Steps in its Operations
In a significant move aimed at refining its business focus, Depot Connect International (DCI) has officially reached an agreement to sell its Industrial and Rail Services to Clean Harbors, for a handsome sum of approximately $130 million. This transaction is set to include five strategically located business units across Ohio, Louisiana, and Texas, and is anticipated to close in the first half of 2026, pending standard closing conditions.
Chris Synek, the CEO of DCI, expressed his satisfaction regarding the agreement, noting, "We are pleased to reach this agreement with Clean Harbors. This sale allows us to move forward with a more streamlined portfolio. By divesting these non-core assets, we are positioned to reinvest in our core functions, expanding our premier depot network and enhancing the specialized services that our customers rely on most."
DCI is poised to enhance its operational efficiency and financial stability through this divestment. The sale not only frees up resources, allowing DCI to concentrate on its primary business areas, but it also symbolizes a forward-looking strategy to adapt to the fast-changing transportation landscape.
After the sale, DCI and Clean Harbors plan to continue a collaborative relationship, with DCI remaining as a dedicated provider for tank trailer cleaning and maintenance services at major facilities in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Pasadena, Texas. This partnership extends beyond maintenance, covering critical transportation services and wastewater treatment across DCI’s expansive network. Both companies are committed to ensuring a seamless transition for their customers during this process.
The move reflects DCI's commitment to innovation and operational excellence, ensuring that it remains agile and well-equipped to meet the evolving demands of the transportation and logistics sectors. By honing in on its core services, DCI aims to strengthen its foothold in both North America and Europe, continuing to drive supply chain efficiencies and improve customer satisfaction.
For the sale, DCI received legal counsel from Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and financial advisory from Stifel, ensuring that the transaction aligns with its strategic goals.
