Digital Transformation in Healthcare at Digital Hollywood University

Digital Hollywood University (DHU), recognized as a private university by the Ministry of Education, is taking a groundbreaking step in student healthcare by collaborating with Cloud Doctor, an online medical service platform. Beginning July 1, 2026, the university will launch a pilot project utilizing online medical services to improve healthcare accessibility for its students and staff.

This initiative stems from the concerns raised by students who struggle to find time for medical consultations due to busy schedules and the hesitation to seek medical help for minor health issues. As part of what is termed the “President Project,” led by President Naotaka Fujii, a practicing physician, the university aims to embody the principle of “Live Scientifically.”

Context of Implementation

The changing landscape around universities has influenced students’ lifestyles and learning methods. With balancing classes, extracurricular activities, and part-time jobs, securing time for hospital visits has become increasingly challenging. Additionally, for international students, language barriers and the need for supportive care when accessing healthcare services present significant hurdles.

To address these challenges, this pilot project seeks to provide healthcare access unrestricted by time and location through online medical services. Furthermore, with support in 86 languages, it aims to enhance assistance for foreign students.
