Moldova Digital Summit 2026: A Celebration of Moldova's Digital Advancement

The Moldova Digital Summit 2026 (MDS26) took place in the vibrant city of Chișinău, gathering around 4,000 attendees, including over 100 distinguished speakers and 45 exhibitors. Moldova has positioned its ICT industry as a cornerstone of its economic success, boasting nearly 3,000 companies and employing over 26,000 professionals. The sector has managed to attract global clients, significantly boosting its revenue through exports. In a landmark achievement, the Moldova Innovation Technology Park (MITP) reported an impressive collective revenue exceeding $1 billion in just the year 2025. This growth is a testament to Moldova's competitive talent pool, robust digital infrastructure, and its alignment with EU standards, making it an appealing innovation hub for the extended European Union.

Alexandru Munteanu, Prime Minister of Moldova, highlighted the importance of digitalization as a strategy for enhancing competitiveness, transparency, and resilience. He stated that Moldova's ambition transcends mere accession to the European Union; it aims to play a vital role in crafting Europe’s digital landscape. By focusing on cultivating unique talents among young professionals, Moldova hopes to foster an environment where innovation thrives.

The summit spotlighted Moldova's leadership in providing comprehensive digital public services, underpinned by a sophisticated interoperability infrastructure. Currently, 78% of business-related public services are accessible online, significantly easing administrative burdens and reducing operational costs for citizens and businesses alike. The digital advancements have yielded significant savings, with citizens and businesses collectively saving EUR 44 million and over 9.3 million hours in 2025 alone. Furthermore, Moldova's digital infrastructure currently handles approximately 3.2 million data transactions daily, reflecting the scale and efficiency of its digital ecosystem.

One of the most anticipated developments unveiled at the summit was EVO 2.0, the advanced iteration of Moldova's integrated government application. This innovative platform now includes a digital identity wallet, fully compliant with the European Digital Identity framework, which allows citizens to securely access and share verified documents directly from their mobile devices.

In addition to enhancing digital capabilities, MDS26 marked a significant step toward transforming digital strengths into substantial physical innovation capacity. The announcement of new partnerships laid the groundwork for the Moldova HiTech Park, a planned 50-hectare innovation campus on the outskirts of Chișinău. This project is poised to attract investments exceeding €200 million in the coming years, including a government data center, nanotechnology cluster, and a focus on HealthTech innovations.

The Moldova Digital Summit 2026 was held on June 5-6, under the auspices of the Moldovan Government and orchestrated by various key organizations, including the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization and the Moldovan Association of ICT Companies.
