LINEA Innovation Selected for BMW Foundation's RESPOND Accelerator
In a significant achievement, LINEA Innovation, headquartered in Tokyo and led by CEO Yuta Noji, has become the first Japanese company to be accepted into the RESPOND Accelerator Energy program, organized by the distinguished BMW Foundation. This global initiative offers support for innovative startups tackling global societal challenges, particularly in areas related to sustainable development goals (SDGs).
About the RESPOND Accelerator Energy
The RESPOND Accelerator Energy program is a collaborative effort between the BMW Foundation and UnternehmerTUM, a leading entrepreneurial center associated with the Technical University of Munich. The aim is not merely to foster business growth but also to cultivate responsible leadership and global firms that focus on rejuvenating the planet's environment.
This prestigious program has seen participation from over 19 countries, with companies expanding operations across more than 120 nations post-graduation. Collectively, these selected enterprises have generated around 1,500 jobs and have raised over 385 million euros (approximately 60 billion yen) in funding to date.
As reported by the BMW Foundation, more than 1,700 applications were received globally for the 2025 cycle of the program, leading to the acceptance of only 50 companies, illustrating an acceptance rate of just a few percent. LINEA's innovative business concept and technology aimed at creating a safe and clean energy source (p-¹¹B nuclear fusion) have been key factors in this selection.
Previously accepted companies in this initiative include notable names from the cleantech and deep tech sectors, such as:
- - Hawa Dawa (Germany): Developed an AI-powered air quality management platform and received the 'Digital Startup of the Year' from Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
- - Made of Air (Germany): Innovated a bio-material that captures CO₂ from the atmosphere and was awarded the 'Science Breakthrough of the Year.'
- - Kraftblock (Germany): Focused on a high-temperature energy storage system aimed at the decarbonization of industries, securing millions of euros in investments after joining the program.
The inclusion of LINEA Innovation in this elite group signifies the company’s growing international recognition as a clean tech startup, not just within Japan but on a global scale.
Future Perspectives
Through this program, LINEA plans to build relationships with top-tier investors, leading European corporations like the BMW Group, and sustainability-focused entrepreneurial communities. The insights gained from responsible leadership and effective business strategies will serve as a foundation for expanding into global markets, particularly in Europe, and establishing international partnerships.
As LINEA Innovation strives toward the implementation of next-generation clean energy solutions, the company remains committed to driving progress in this vital sector.
