PAX Services Group's Achievement for Project of the Year

PAX Services Group, known for its roofing and exterior service excellence, recently received significant recognition. The company has been honored with the 2025 Project of the Year award from Sika Roofing and Waterproofing for their outstanding work on the Walter E. Washington Convention Center's re-roofing project. Project Overview

The project involved an extensive re-roofing of an approximately 800,000-square-foot area, with a budget of around $20.8 million. It serves as a benchmark for installing Sarnafil materials, representing the integration of expert planning and technical excellence. Notably, the work was carried out while the Convention Center remained operational, hosting events on more than 70% of its calendar days during the entire construction period.

Across this large roof, 96 individual sections were meticulously completed, most of which underwent a total re-cover. These sections received new insulation, high-density cover boards, and a durable 80-mil PVC Sarnafil membrane, known for its UV resistance and long-term performance capabilities. The intricate nature of this project necessitated advanced planning, rigorous safety protocols, and cohesive collaboration among various project stakeholders.

He highlighted the South Barrel Roof, which presented steep slopes and limited access requiring custom crane solutions and fall-protection measures. Furthermore, the Mechanical Roof underwent a complete tear-off and reconstruction without causing any disruption to ongoing operations. “The project showcased our team's strength and demonstrated the power of collaboration with our partners,” he remarked.

An essential aspect of the project was the commitment to safety and sustainability. A comprehensive OSHA-compliant safety program was implemented, resulting in no major incidents throughout the work.
