Grand Opening of OKUSHIZU PARK: A New Hub for Fun, Learning, and Health in Shizuoka

OKUSHIZU PARK Grand Opening

The newly constructed OKUSHIZU PARK, located on the former site of the Shizuoka City Shimizu Nishikawauchi Elementary School, is set to open on July 25, 2026. This innovative facility aims to create a vibrant community space dedicated to play, learning, and health. Developed by a consortium led by Tokyo Mori to Itiba Co., along with other partners, the park seeks to breathe new life into the area, once home to the laughter of students.

About the Park

The site, nestled in the picturesque Ookuzus region of Shizuoka City, spans a vast mountainous area, offering beautiful landscapes and a natural environment. OKUSHIZU PARK emphasizes the importance of community engagement and aims to be a venue where residents can connect, experience nature, and foster new relationships.

With a range of facilities tailored for diverse activities, such as the Asobiba indoor play area featuring wooden playground equipment and sports zones, the clubhouse with its natural grass field, café, hostel, sauna, gym, and co-working spaces, OKUSHIZU PARK is designed for everyone—from children to adults.

The park’s symbol is the kingfisher, a bird native to the area, representing the connection between the local community and its natural surroundings.

The Journey to Opening

OKUSHIZU PARK's development is not merely about completing the construction; it embodies a collaborative endeavor with the local community. In preparation for the grand opening, approximately 200 community members and children have participated in workshops focusing on planting grass, cleaning ponds, and building the entrance to Asobiba. With their involvement, the goal is to create a beloved space that will be filled with memories for generations to come.
