JELD-WEN Enhances Its Commitment to Sustainability with New Certifications

JELD-WEN Expands Its Sustainable Product Portfolio

In a significant move towards sustainability, JELD-WEN UK, a prominent subsidiary of JELD-WEN Holding, Inc., recently announced the acquisition of its second Cradle to Cradle Certified® product certification in 2025. This achievement reflects the company’s continuous efforts to enhance its range of certified sustainable doors and bolster its leadership in responsible innovation across Europe.

What is Cradle to Cradle Certification?

Cradle to Cradle Certified® is recognized as one of the most advanced product sustainability certifications globally. It evaluates products based on multiple criteria including material health, circularity, climate protection, water stewardship, and social fairness. Such rigorous standards ensure that products are not only effective but also environmentally responsible throughout their life cycles.

New Certifications Across Europe

The newly awarded Bronze-level certifications encompass a variety of JELD-WEN products, such as the ADVANCELINE exterior doors from Latvia, interior frames from Estonia, and High Performance doors from Denmark and Sweden. The certification also includes models from Denmark and five high-performing designs from the UK. With these additions covering five European countries, JELD-WEN demonstrates its commitment to aligning sustainability with manufacturing excellence.

According to Guillaume Woringer, Vice President Operations for JELD-WEN Europe, the accomplishment emphasizes how integral sustainability has become to the company's innovation strategy: “This certification is more than recognition; it serves as proof that sustainability drives every step of our product development and production. It reflects the dedication and technical excellence of our teams, who have turned sustainability into a competitive advantage.”

Staying Ahead of Regulatory Changes

JELD-WEN's proactive approach places it well ahead of forthcoming regulations such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). This regulation mandates that companies must show that their wood-based products are not associated with deforestation or forest degradation. By adhering to robust Cradle to Cradle Certified® standards, JELD-WEN ensures responsible sourcing, helping to embed sustainability across the entire product lifecycle—from material selection to manufacturing and distribution.

This strategic positioning is not just about compliance; it enhances transparency and cultivates long-term value creation for customers, partners, and the larger community.

Commitment to Global Sustainability Goals

Carolyn Payne, Director of Global ESG for JELD-WEN, remarked on the significance of expanding the Cradle to Cradle certification: “This milestone in JELD-WEN's sustainability journey illustrates our dedicated efforts in producing items that are safe, circular, and responsibly manufactured. It’s a testament to our global teams’ commitment to integrating environmental and social responsibility at every stage of our value chain.”

As a global entity, JELD-WEN is committed to offering sustainable and innovative solutions that benefit their customers, communities, and the environment. The company's sustainability efforts align with its broader environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals, showcasing an unwavering commitment to corporate responsibility.
