Boulangers and Izumi Kamoshida Introduce New Peaceful Macaron Design
Boulangers Co., Ltd., led by President Masaru Kiyama, is excited to unveil a new design for its 'Peaceful Macaron' project. This collaboration with food artist Izumi Kamoshida aims to convey messages of hope and equality, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 10: 'Reduce Inequality.' The new design will hit stores starting August 2, and will be available in major department stores and specialized shops across the nation.
This marks the second year of the Peaceful Macaron initiative, which celebrates the beauty of nature and social equality through artfully crafted macarons. Each seasonal design features six flowers symbolizing spring, summer, autumn, and winter, arranged in a heart shape to embody togetherness and compassion. At the center of each design is a pure white dove, a universal symbol of peace, surrounded by colors that represent the seasonal essence of light and air.
Product Information
The newly minted 'Peaceful Macaron' includes two delightful flavors, each priced at ¥270 (tax included):
- - Strawberry Shortcake
- - Custard Pudding
There are options for sets of two or three macarons, making them perfect for sharing or gifting.
About the Peaceful Macaron
The Peaceful Macaron project seamlessly combines the joys of sweets and art to create a heartfelt experience. It addresses various forms of inequality that exist worldwide, including disparities in gender, nationality, and economic status. The macarons serve not only as visually appealing treats but also as thought-provoking pieces of art. By creating these macarons, the organizers aim to engage the community with important social issues, encouraging conversations around diversity and respect for different backgrounds.
At the core of this initiative is the belief in spreading gratitude. Each macaron represents a token of appreciation, reinforcing the importance of kindness and connection. It is hoped that receiving these macarons will plant seeds of warm feelings in people's hearts, inspiring a cycle of gratitude that continues to grow.
Comment from Izumi Kamoshida
Kamoshida emphasizes, "Each flower in our autumn design tells a story: communication leads to understanding, and understanding leads to support. We hope to inspire conversations that embrace differences and foster peace."
The selected autumn flowers in the design are:
- - Crape Myrtle: Represents eloquence
- - Bougainvillea: Symbolizes passion
- - Cosmos: Embodies harmony
- - Cockscomb: Signifies style
- - Fragrant Olive: Represents humility
- - Marigold: Symbolizes health
These six blooms create a narrative of warmth and peace. By sharing the message of autumn’s flowers through each macaron, the project aims to soften hearts and spread kind sentiments.
Seasonal Themes and Storytelling
Every three months, the design will evolve to reflect the changing seasons, accompanied by educational initiatives on the significance of the Sustainable Development Goals. Kamoshida has also created a children's picture book titled "Peaceful Macaron," which will be shared on social media platforms, further enriching the connection between art and social consciousness. Original illustrations from the book can be viewed at the Boulangers flagship store in Ginza.
