A Royal Visit Celebration in Front Royal
On May 1, 2026, Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA) in Front Royal, Virginia, hosted a remarkable event known as the "Royal Block Party" to honor Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla during their state visit to the United States. This unique celebration, which combined music, leadership, and cultural traditions, showcased the talents of the Academy’s students while fostering a sense of community pride.
A Celebration Like No Other
The event, held against the scenic backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains, welcomed various community members, leaders, and special guests, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of pageantry and patriotism. The Royal Block Party featured a captivating parade performance led by the esteemed R-MA Marching Band, accompanied by the Academy's Color Guard and Regimental Staff.
In a spirit of collaboration, student musicians from Skyline High School and Warren County High School joined the festivities, highlighting a powerful community showcase of talent. Lucy Hooper, chair of the R-MA Board, expressed her pride: "To welcome Their Majesties in a setting that celebrates service, scholarship, and young people rising to meet the future is both a privilege and a moment of enormous significance for our Academy, our town, and our region."
Cadets' Reflections on a Historic Day
The cadets participating in the performance spoke passionately about their experiences. Cadet Colonel Rania Husted, the Academy’s Regimental Commander, remarked, "I feel incredibly honored that R-MA was included in such a historic event. More than anything, I feel proud of my fellow cadets. Their hard work and dedication were evident in our performance, and I hope we made our Front Royal community proud as well."
The Regimental Sergeant Major, Bijou Kebbay, also shared her thoughts: "Everyone was nervous, I mean it was the king and queen of the United Kingdom, of course they were. But it was beautiful to see how everyone came together to support each other and make sure everyone shined."
