Sacred Heart Preparatory Celebrates Its 128th Graduation Ceremony

On May 21, 2026, Sacred Heart Preparatory (SHP) marked a significant milestone by awarding diplomas to 157 graduates during its 128th high school commencement ceremony held at Gator Nation Field. This event not only celebrated academic achievements but also highlighted diverse futures awaiting the graduates as they embark on their next chapters.

The Class of 2026 stands out with remarkable diversity in its academic aspirations. Graduates have chosen to pursue higher education at an impressive range of 74 different institutions. While 68 of them plan to remain in California, 88 students will take their talents out of state, with one having the opportunity to study overseas. The ambitious class includes future students at the U.S. Military Academy, transitioning to California community colleges, and furthering their education through vocational schools. Additionally, three graduates are set to take a gap year to explore their interests before diving into college life.

In a heartfelt display of tradition and community, 30 members of the graduating class have been part of Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton (SHS) for over 12 years. The ceremony also celebrated the school's unbroken record of athletic excellence; SHP has sustained a notable streak of sending at least 15 student-athletes to the intercollegiate level for two decades. This year, 25 graduates will compete in 11 different sports at the collegiate level, exemplifying both their athleticism and academic balance.

The event featured the presentation of diplomas by several key figures including Marnie Marcin, chair of the Board of Trustees; Richard A. Dioli, director of schools; Jorge Reyes, assistant principal of curriculum and academics; and Jason Armstrong, assistant principal for athletics. Noteworthy remarks were shared by Dioli, SHP Principal Dr. Jennie Whitcomb, valedictorian Oskar Herlitz, salutatorian Marcus To, and faculty speaker Armando del Rio, each contributing to the inspirational atmosphere of the event.
