Phoenix Tower International Enters Exclusive Talks to Acquire 3,700 Sites from Bouygues Telecom and SFR

Phoenix Tower International (PTI) is poised to significantly expand its operational footprint in France as it announces the initiation of exclusive negotiations with Bouygues Telecom and SFR concerning a potential acquisition of around 3,700 mobile sites. This move is a strategic leap for PTI, which is set to solidify its position as a leading telecom tower company within the French market.

The sites in question are currently managed by Infracos, a joint venture expected to enhance PTI's portfolio substantially. With this transaction, PTI's total holdings in France would soar to nearly 10,000 sites, a remarkable leap that reflects the company's aggressive growth strategy in a competitive telecommunications landscape. Included in this acquisition are commitments for build-to-suit (BTS) structures that will further embed PTI in the region.

Entering the French market in 2020, PTI initially focused on enhancing mobile network accessibility in underserved rural areas. Furthermore, their acquisition of two high-density urban rooftop portfolios in 2023 set the stage for this new agreement. "This potential transaction represents a pivotal milestone in our growth journey, allowing us to furnish coverage in suburban areas and becoming a national provider that caters to France’s diverse geographical needs," remarked Dagan Kasavana, CEO of PTI.

The French telecommunications market is particularly vital for PTI, marking it as the company's largest individual market. The strategic acquisition of these sites will bolster PTI's long-term commitment to developing a high-quality digital infrastructure that meets France's increasing connectivity demands. Bouygues Telecom and SFR are among the leading telecom service providers in France, with long-term contracts safeguarding the sites for the new management.

"This agreement is a natural next step in enhancing our fruitful partnership with PTI, aligned with our mutual goal of advancing telecommunications infrastructure across the nation, thus guaranteeing our customers exceptional service," stated Benoît Torloting, CEO of Bouygues Telecom.

Olivier Tailfer, Executive Director of Network at SFR, added, "This joint venture is integral to our strategy of investing in top-tier telecom infrastructure across France. Our collaborative efforts since 2014 have yielded significant advancements in mobile network development. This transition signifies the dawn of a new chapter of excellence for our network and its users."

PTI's steadfast investment trajectory in France illustrates its long-term strategy, centered on forging robust partnerships with leading mobile operators, facilitating state-of-the-art infrastructural solutions that enable the future of connectivity. With the completion of this acquisition, and assuming standard regulatory approvals, PTI is expected to manage approximately 33,000 cell towers across Europe, the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

In summary, this pivotal acquisition positions Phoenix Tower International on a trajectory of robust growth and innovation, not only in France but also across its extensive international footprint. The company continues to attract significant investment interest, with backing from notable hedge funds and asset management firms including Blackstone, Wren House, Blackrock, Grain, and USS. Based in Boca Raton, Florida, PTI insists on its mission to be a premier site provider in growth markets worldwide, facilitating the evolution of telecommunications infrastructure to meet ever-evolving consumer demands.
