Doug Uhlenbrock Takes Charge as New Executive Director of Family RV Association

In a significant leadership change, the Family RV Association (FRVA) has appointed Doug Uhlenbrock as its new executive director, effective immediately. This decision was unanimously passed by the association's Executive Board, marking a new chapter for the organization dedicated to recreational vehicle enthusiasts.

Doug Uhlenbrock’s journey with the Family RV Association spans over 24 years. He first joined the organization in 2001 as an associate editor for the magazine formerly known as Family Motor Coaching, now titled Family RVing. Uhlenbrock's commitment and understanding of the RV community helped him rise through the ranks quickly. In 2014, he became the events manager, working alongside the director of events to orchestrate large-scale conventions and gatherings. He took on the role of director of events in 2017 and has successfully managed 15 conventions during his tenure.

Paul Mitchell, the national president of FRVA, expressed confidence in Uhlenbrock’s capabilities. “We believe that Doug will bring stability to Family RV Association and keep us moving forward as the premier RV association,” stated Mitchell. His extensive experience with the organization positions him well to address both the current challenges it faces and the opportunities that lie ahead.

Upon his appointment, an enthusiastic Uhlenbrock shared, “I’m honored and excited to step into this new role at Family RV Association. We face many challenges, but also great opportunities to reinvent the ways we provide education, benefits, and community involvement that RVers want and need from a membership group.” He highlighted his commitment to leveraging the support from national leaders, the staff at the national office, and the association's many dedicated volunteers.

Family RV Association, known previously as the Family Motor Coach Association since its establishment in 1963, has grown to become the world’s largest non-profit organization for RV owners, boasting nearly 100,000 members across North America. The FRVA cultivates a strong sense of community among RV enthusiasts through numerous local chapters, national conventions, rallies, and group travel events.

Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, FRVA provides an array of benefits designed to enhance the RV lifestyle. Members can take advantage of features such as the Family RVing magazine, medical and travel evacuation services, roadside assistance plans, various insurance programs, and discounts on RV tours and mobile internet services.

The association’s core mission is to foster connections among RV lovers, allowing individuals with shared interests in RV travel and the freedom of the open road to come together. Uhlenbrock’s leadership aims to significantly reshape FRVA’s image, shedding its previous label as “the best-kept secret in RVing” and highlighting its stature as a leading RV association in North America.

As Uhlenbrock steps into this crucial role, the future looks bright for the Family RV Association. With a clear vision and the rich experience he brings to the table, Uhlenbrock is set to guide the organization through its next phase of growth and community engagement, ensuring that RV owners continue to receive the support and resources they need in their adventurous lifestyles.
