A Culinary Fusion of Italian and Chinese Cuisine at Hotel Granvia Hiroshima

A Culinary Fusion at Hotel Granvia Hiroshima

Hotel Granvia Hiroshima is set to host an extraordinary culinary event on September 17, 2026. Renowned Italian chef Mamoru Kataoka of Ristorante Al Porto will collaborate with Daiji Yamamoto, head chef of the hotel's Chinese restaurant, Koranyen, to create a unique dining experience that merges the rich traditions of Italian and Chinese cuisines.

Chef Kataoka is a celebrated figure in the Japanese culinary scene, with over 40 years of experience in promoting Italian cuisine in Japan. He was awarded the title of ‘Modern Master’ in 2015 and received the Yellow Ribbon Medal of Honor in 2021. Since opening Ristorante Al Porto in 1983, Kataoka has gained a reputation for his exceptional pasta dishes and has engaged in various culinary arts, including restaurant management, television, and culinary education.

This special collaborative dinner marks a significant occasion as it is the first time Koranyen will pair its Chinese dishes with Italian cuisine. Guests will savor a full-course meal incorporating the best of both culinary worlds, crafted by the two acclaimed chefs. This innovative menu promises a memorable dining experience that allows the flavors of Italian and Chinese cuisines to resonate together.

The venue for this exclusive event will be the second floor of Hotel Granvia Hiroshima, specifically within the elegant setting of Koranyen. The event is scheduled to begin at 18:30, with guests welcomed from 17:30. The tickets are priced at ¥25,000 per person, with a limit of 60 attendees, ensuring an intimate experience filled with culinary delights.

In addition to the remarkable food, a selection of wines and vintage Shaoxing rice wine—such as the highly-regarded “Natsu no Sake”—will also be served, thoughtfully paired with the dishes to enhance the dining experience further. Each dish will showcase the creativity and expertise of both chefs, forming an exquisite harmony between the flavors.

As a prominent player in the hospitality sector, Hotel Granvia Hiroshima continuously seeks to deliver exceptional experiences related to food and gastronomy. This event exemplifies the hotel’s commitment to innovation and quality in dining.
