Celebrate Pączki Day in Detroit!
On Saturday, March 1, 2025, Detroit City Distillery (DCD) will once again light up the city's atmosphere with its much-anticipated annual Pączki Day Party. From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., revelers are invited to partake in this exciting celebration that draws attendees from throughout Michigan, the Midwest, and even Canada, transforming Riopelle Street in Eastern Market into a lively festival ground.
A Polish Tradition Reimagined
This year's gathering promises to be a delightful tapestry of Polish culture, culinary treats, and crafted spirits. The event is free to attend but will have limited capacity, allowing for an intimate yet vibrant experience. Attendees can look forward to indulgent food options, showcasing beloved Polish delicacies like pierogi, kielbasa, and the ever-popular pączki, courtesy of local vendors.
In addition to savoring the delicious eats, DCD will roll out its Pączki Day Vodka and an all-new Pączki Cream Liqueur, both crafted from the finest ingredients that highlight the flavors of our favorite Polish treat—raspberry pączki. The distillery will also feature a range of exciting cocktails, including the creatively named “Driving Miss Daisy” and “Orange Cream Float.”
Fun and Festivities Await
As attendees enjoy their cocktails, they’ll also be treated to live music by The Crampton Brothers, who will bring energy to the day’s festivities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Moreover, the event will feature the famed 'Shot Ski' that spans an entire city block, enhancing the celebratory spirit. And, for those looking to take home a piece of the party, merchandise including hoodies, hats, t-shirts, and limited-edition coffee cups will be available for purchase.
J.P. Jerome, master distiller and co-owner of DCD, expressed his excitement about the annual gathering: "It’s been a long, cold winter so far, but that’s no reason we can’t still have fun. Once again, we'll celebrate the season with Polish treats, music, and, of course, cocktails. We hope everyone will join in and raise a glass—or a shot ski—to this one-of-a-kind holiday."
The Essence of Pączki Day
For many, Pączki Day symbolizes the joyous indulgence before the Lent fasting season begins. Pączki, delectable filled donuts, boast a rich flavor profile that often includes egg, butter, and milk—plus a little vodka, ensuring a crispy exterior once fried. They come in various fillings like raspberry, strawberry, lemon, and custard, coated in powdered sugar or glaze.
Detroit City Distillery emphasizes quality with its Pączki Day Vodka, a refined spirit distilled from fresh raspberry pączki in a traditional copper pot still. With no artificial flavors or sweeteners, this craft vodka celebrates the authentic taste of lovingly made Polish pastries.
As spring approaches, DCD encourages everyone to gather, sip, and make merry. Whether you’re a Detroit local or traveling from afar, come immerse yourself in the camaraderie, flavors, and joy of the Pączki Day Party. Don’t miss out on this lively celebration of tradition and community!
