Karen brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Katten’s team, having distinguished herself in every facet of CMBS finance. Renowned for her exceptional skills, she has overseen transactions as issuer's counsel, underwriter's counsel, and transaction counsel. Notably, she has significant experience in single-asset single-borrower (SASB) deals. Howard Schickler, co-chair of Katten's Structured Finance and Securitization department, spoke highly of Anzalone, stating, “Karen has fresh energy, standout skills and experience in all aspects of CMBS finance.”

Anzalone has been acknowledged in the prestigious Best Lawyers Ones to Watch in America lists for 2023, 2024, and 2025, highlighting her as a top-tier legal talent. Previously, she was part of the Capital Markets Group at another prominent AmLaw 100 firm, further solidifying her reputation in the industry.

At Katten, alongside Charlotte-based Partner Joshua Yablonski, she will focus extensively on CMBS and its various processes, from loan origination to securitization. Katten’s comprehensive CMBS practice ultimately encompasses providing guidance on loan originations, warehouse facilities, Real Estate Mortgage Investment Conduits (REMICs), resecuritizations, and collateralized loan obligations.

Anzalone joins a distinguished national team of attorneys hailed for their concerted efforts in representing benchmark issuers in diverse asset classes ranging from auto finance to both residential and commercial mortgages. This newly-strengthened practice is equipped to address a broad spectrum of client needs through innovative and effective solutions. Anna-Liza Harris, co-chair of Katten’s Structured Finance and Securitization department based in Washington, DC, expressed her enthusiasm regarding Anzalone’s arrival, saying, “Karen knows the importance of delivering innovative and effective solutions for our clients, and in this way, she is an ideal addition to our team.”
