Urgent Appeal Submitted to Osaka Party Headquarters Regarding Mayor Yokoyama's Controversy

Urgent Appeal Submitted to Osaka Party Headquarters

On August 13, 2023, Kunsei Club, based in Hayashima, Okayama, submitted an official appeal to the Osaka Prefectural Headquarters of the Japan Restoration Party. This action demands a resolution concerning ongoing issues surrounding the party's vice president and Osaka Mayor, Eikyo Yokoyama. Prior to this appeal, the company had issued requests and inquiries related to Mayor Yokoyama but has yet to receive a satisfactory response.

Background of the Issue

The current situation stems from two confirmed facts:
1. The Osaka city government explicitly mentioned a substance called “Pubellic Acid” in materials from the third meeting of the Osaka City Food Poisoning Prevention Headquarters on May 29, 2023.
2. In contrast, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare stated in a written response dated July 29, 2023, that it has neither created nor obtained documentation nor any analysis data that scientifically verifies the presence of this substance.

Given these contrasting accounts, the staff at Kunsei Club have worked tirelessly to garner a clear response from Mayor Yokoyama. Their efforts included issuing a request letter on August 9, a public inquiry letter on August 11 set for a response by August 25, and a request for investigation addressed to all factions of the Osaka City Council on August 12. Unfortunately, until now, they have received no replies.

Contents of the Appeal

The main focus of the appeal underscores the need for clarity:
  • - The Osaka City Health Department is queried on the scientific basis for publicly announcing the existence of “Pubellic Acid.”
  • - Mayor Yokoyama is specifically asked to present evidence or documentation that validates the city's claims. In the absence of such documentation, the city should openly acknowledge that such evidence does not exist.

Supporting Document

A copy of the notification from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare regarding the absence of documentation evidencing substance ownership has been attached to the appeal.

The Company’s Position

The matter at hand can be resolved solely by either providing the required documentation or admitting its non-existence. As this pertains to the government's obligation to be accountable to the public, this appeal directly calls upon the mayor's political party to address the concerns.

About Kunsei Club

This official release delineates the facts based on disclosures from government authorities, along with the company's interpretation of these facts. It clarifies that the Ministry of Health's response only pertains to documentation ownership, not a general statement about scientific knowledge. Additionally, it should not be misconstrued as indicating a complete lack of communication between the Ministry and the city of Osaka, as evidenced by prior public documents.
