Meet Coach Makoto Fujii
Makoto Fujii, a distinguished teaching professional and the key figure behind nurturing champions in youth golf, was born in Tokyo in 1958. He has a rich background in the sport, having joined the Japan Professional Golf Association in 1995 and moved to Orlando, Florida, to further his knowledge of the golf business. Upon returning to Japan, he took on key positions at the U.S. military’s Tama Hills Golf Course, where he spent years developing junior programs that bridged the community and military.
His multifaceted contributions also include features in magazines and radio, as well as engaging with fans through YouTube, delivering invaluable insights and tips to aspiring golfers.
Overview of the STS Golf Camp
- - Format: Planned group travel
- - Date: November 9, 2025 (Sunday) - one-day event
- - Eligibility: Students in grades 1-3 (based on the school year at the time of departure)
- - Location: Minamikantuba Golf Course, Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture
- - Meals: One lunch included
- - Cost: ¥29,300 for elementary school students; ¥35,200 for middle school students.
This includes transportation, meals, event fees, and travel insurance; however, rental golf clubs are available for an additional ¥5,500.
- - Capacity: 12 participants (with a minimum of 8 needed to run the program)
An accompanying staff member is provided for every 5 to 8 children enrolled.
Daily Schedule
- - 7:30 AM: Departure from Tokyo via regular train to Minamikantuba
- - Opening Ceremony: Welcome remarks and overview
- - Golf Etiquette and Rules: A brief tutorial on essential manners and safety for golf courses
- - Professional Golf Lessons: Hands-on learning in a live course environment
- - 5:30-6:30 PM: Return to Tokyo by train
