Millennia Continues Dementia Promotion Project in Shinagawa Ward for FY2026
Millennia, a subsidiary of the Saint Care Group located in Minato, Tokyo, has announced its continued engagement in the "Cognitive Health Check" initiative for residents of Shinagawa Ward, set for fiscal year 2026 under the administration of Mayor Kyoko Morisawa.
What is the Cognitive Health Check?
This initiative aims to raise awareness about dementia and encourage residents aged 50 and above to check their cognitive health regularly, thereby fostering a proactive attitude towards dementia from an early stage. Participants are encouraged to track their cognitive status and engage in conversations about dementia to reduce stigma and promote understanding within the community.
Achievements Over the Past Two Years
Since 2024, Millennia's cognitive health scale, known as “Cognitive Health Check®,” has been employed to evaluate cognitive functions accurately. Various check-up sessions have been held across facilities within the ward, culminating in increased participation and awareness among the populace. Remarkably, the initiative has attracted nearly 30% participation from individuals under 65, establishing a solid foundation for dementia awareness among younger demographics.
Feedback collected through participant surveys has indicated enhanced interest in existing health programs and a growing awareness of dementia risk reduction strategies, showing a positive trend in community health initiatives.
Plans for 2026
Recognizing that dementia can affect anyone, the program emphasizes the importance of accessible information concerning risk reduction and preventive measures. The overarching vision is to cultivate a society where individuals with dementia can maintain their dignity and live hopefully and independently. Through ongoing cognitive health checks, Millennia aims to promote understanding and engagement regarding dementia, further familiarizing residents with local resources available for support and preventive care.
Distribution of Publicity Materials
In 2025, Millennia introduced easily accessible awareness pamphlets specifically designed for residents under 65, aligning with national dementia care policies. These materials contain resources designed to inform citizens about preventive measures, support systems, and the latest understanding of dementia, ensuring that essential information reaches individuals at a suitable stage of their lives.
Encouraging Participation in Local Health Initiatives
Recent surveys conducted highlighted a significant shift towards proactive engagement in health-related activities post participation in the cognitive health checks. The initiative plans to promote local health programs focused on dementia and overall wellness, providing participants with information on available programs and encouraging their involvement.
