Mobimaru Expands to Hokkaido and Tohoku Regions with Nationwide Kitchen Car Platform

Mobimaru's Nationwide Expansion

In a significant move to broaden its reach, Synchro Food, headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, is set to launch its kitchen car platform Mobimaru in the Hokkaido and Tohoku regions starting from May 2025. Previously, Mobimaru has successfully served the Kanto, Tokai, Kansai, Hokuriku, Chugoku, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa areas, facilitating mobile sales with a vision to revitalize local communities across Japan. This new expansion signifies a critical step towards offering services nationwide.

Background of the Hokkaido and Tohoku Expansion

Mobimaru's operational history is marked by collaborations with local governments and businesses, aiming to leverage mobile sales for regional revitalization through various community events. To date, more than 8,000 vendors and around 4,800 vehicles have registered on the platform. This success is driven by an increasing demand for mobile kitchen services, particularly in light of challenges such as labor shortages and an aging population facing issues like the lack of successors for local festivals.

In response to these challenges, requests for event support via kitchen car operations have surged from local associations, prompting Mobimaru to expand its services. The formation of partnerships with companies in the Hokkaido and Tohoku regions has paved the way for this expansion, which includes comprehensive support for planning and managing local events—commencing in May 2025.

Future Developments in Hokkaido and Tohoku

As the service launches, Mobimaru will focus on collaborations with local governments, enterprises, and mobile vendors in specific regions: Sapporo in Hokkaido and Miyagi in Tohoku. The initiative will feature key activities including:
  • - Support for community festivals using mobile sales to help restore local community ties.
  • - Assistance for food and retail businesses in the region to expand their market reach through mobile sales.
  • - Promotion of city branding and tourism development via mobile sales initiatives.

This will bolster the presence of kitchen cars within community events, showcasing how mobile vendors can enhance local festivities and support community engagement.
