Otsuka Pharmaceutical's Achievement in Food Education
Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., based in Tokyo and led by President Shin Inoue, was honored to receive the Special Jury Award during the 10th Food Education Activity Awards, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. This recognition stems from their effective use of the fun learning app 'Mogumogu Town', which serves as an educational tool to communicate the importance of food and nutrition in collaboration with various organizations.
The Food Education Activity Awards aim to celebrate those dedicated to promoting food education and spread excellent initiatives nationwide to enhance public awareness and participation in food education activities.
Leveraging expertise from its nutraceutical product development, Otsuka has engaged in numerous food education initiatives in collaboration with various organizations through seminars and events. Starting in 2024, the 'Mogumogu Town' app will be available to facilitate enjoyable, everyday learning about food and nutrition, fostering family communications regarding dietary habits. Targeted primarily at elementary school students, this app can also be utilized at dining facilities frequented by families, thereby extending its reach through partnerships with schools, companies, and organizations to inform people about the significance of nutrition.
A survey conducted by Otsuka targeting 500 elementary school students in grades three and four revealed a positive shift in their attitudes toward trying diverse foods after using the application. Moreover, data analysis from the app indicated an increase in the number of different foods incorporated into meals compared to the beginning of usage, signifying a successful impact on dietary habits.
