Gekidan Hikosen has unveiled its latest original stage play titled "Tatarano Utahime," marking its grand opening on July 19, 2025. This production brings a dark action experience set in a devastated Japan, blending sword fighting and captivating songs into a live stage performance that promises to enthrall its audience.

Behind the Scenes of the Dress Rehearsal

On July 18, 2025, a special dress rehearsal took place, providing the press with a first glimpse of this much-anticipated production. The rehearsal showcased not only the intense combat and dramatic narrative but also the incredible talent of the cast, highlighting their dedication to delivering an unforgettable performance.

What is 'Tatarano Utahime'?

'Tatarano Utahime' is an entirely original work that immerses the audience in a world where the ancient craft of sword-making intertwines with the mystical art of song.
The story is set in a dystopian future, marked by the awakening of an ancient evil spirit unleashed by a sorcerer, leading to a drastic decline in the population of Japan as humans are consumed.

In the face of despair, two young girls emerge: one who sings and another who wields a sword to vanquish the evil spirit, restoring hope to the land.

The Storyline

The plot unfolds with the historical background that the Tatara, legendary figures, once sang to send flames to the swordsmiths. Their songs became the very essence that inhabited the swords.
Fast forward to the year 20XX, and a sealed malevolent spirit resurfaces, causing chaos and devastation. With the population of Japan halved due to this threat, two girls, Haruka Kotone and Azumi Izumo, enroll in the highly secretive “Oka Yo Ren High School.” This institution is dedicated to training young girls destined to defend their nation with swordsmanship and song.
