PSEG Long Island Rises to the Top in Customer Satisfaction
PSEG Long Island has earned the prestigious recognition of being the most satisfying electric utility for business customers in the East Large Segment according to the J.D. Power 2025 Electric Utility Business Customer Satisfaction Study. This achievement signifies a remarkable turnaround for the utility, which has diligently worked towards enhancing the service experience since it took over the operation of the electric grid more than a decade ago.
In the recent customer survey, which engaged 18,132 business customers nationwide, PSEG Long Island not only emerged as the highest ranked but also became the most improved electric service provider in the nation. This award comes after an extensive 11-year journey of rebuilding and restructuring operations, which began in 2014.
David Lyons, the interim president and COO of PSEG Long Island, expressed his pride in the achievement, noting that it reflects the company’s unwavering commitment to improve customer service for its 1.2 million electric customers, including over 130,000 commercial entities. He stated, "After a decade of diligent enhancements, it is a true honor to be ranked highest in business customer satisfaction among utilities in 12 states."
The J.D. Power survey highlighted PSEG Long Island's excellence across various essential categories, specifically Digital Channels, People, Cost, and Information Provided. Customers appreciated the proactive measures implemented by the company, which aims to address the specific needs of businesses during their electric service journey.
PSEG Long Island has introduced a myriad of supportive programs and incentives for business customers. These include complimentary energy assessments, economic development grants, electric vehicle (EV) incentives, and energy efficiency rebates, all designed to help businesses optimize their energy consumption and financial expenditure.
To specifically assist larger commercial clients, PSEG Long Island assigns dedicated Major Accounts representatives who facilitate personalized service and support, ensuring that major establishments receive the high level of service they require.
On the other hand, small businesses benefit from the initiatives led by Business First Advocates, who actively engage with local commercial districts to provide tailored support for managing their electricity needs.
Since 2018, PSEG Long Island has introduced various economic development initiatives, having allocated more than $2.8 million to bolster local businesses. Notably, the Main Street Revitalization grants have aided 72 businesses, granting nearly $2 million that spurred local commerce and resulted in the creation of approximately 1,200 new jobs.
The Main Street Revitalization program is an integral component of PSEG Long Island's Business First initiative, which emphasizes continued support for small businesses situated on Long Island and in the Rockaway area. Additionally, the program has introduced the Vacant Space Revival initiative, offering up to $10,000 in electric bill discounts for new businesses in their critical first year—a period when many startups struggle financially. Since its inception, over $400,000 has been allocated under this program, facilitating more than 170 new businesses in the region.
Beyond direct grants, local business organizations, including chambers of commerce and civic associations, can apply for financial support up to $10,000 for community-enhancement projects through the newly renamed CommunityThrive Program. This initiative encourages improvements in outdoor dining and community aesthetics to promote social interactions and commerce within urban centers.
In conjunction with these outreach efforts, the Energy Efficiency department at PSEG Long Island provides substantial rebates on various energy-saving measures like heating, cooling, and lighting, assisting business owners in reducing costs while also minimizing their environmental impact.
