Meet the New Partners
Margaret Borla, CPA
Margaret Borla specializes in multi-state tax compliance and leads Porte Brown’s foreign and international tax efforts. With over seventeen years of public accounting experience and thirteen years in the private sector, she offers a wealth of knowledge to clients, particularly privately held businesses with revenues between $1 million and $100 million. Based in the Elgin office, Margaret diligently manages, mentors, and trains new staff members while keeping abreast of new tax legislation and planning opportunities. A licensed CPA and a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society, she also holds advanced certifications as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.
Margaret earned her bachelor’s degree in professional studies in 2008 and a master’s in accounting in 2010 from Roosevelt University. She is affiliated with several local organizations, including the Polish American Chamber of Commerce and the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce. Fluent in Polish, her language skills significantly benefit her Polish-speaking clients.
Angela Linz, CPA
Angela Linz plays a key role in leading the firm’s Audit and Review Services team. With over fifteen years of experience, she provides essential accounting, advisory, and audit services to closely-held businesses and not-for-profits. Based in McHenry, Angela holds a master’s degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University (NIU) and previously served as an assurance manager at Plante Moran, PLLC. As a licensed CPA, she is also an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society.
Angela is committed to her community and currently serves on the board of Turning Point, Inc., an organization focused on helping individuals impacted by domestic violence. Originally from McHenry County, she now resides in Bull Valley, Illinois, and continues to be an integral part of the local community.
Matthew J. Schambach, CPA
Matthew Schambach is a senior member of Porte Brown's Estate, Trust, and Tax practice teams, based in Elgin. With nearly three decades of professional experience, he delivers accounting, consulting, and tax services to closely-held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and private foundations. Matthew's expertise shines in estate planning, charity planning, and gift tax strategies, allowing him to collaboratively work with clients and their advisors for optimal solutions.
Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola University and a Master of Science in Accounting from Roosevelt University. He is a licensed CPA and active in various professional organizations, including the Illinois CPA Society and the Northwest Suburban Estate Planning Council. As a long-time resident of Elgin, he embodies a deep commitment to local community service by volunteering as treasurer for non-profit organizations.
