ManpowerGroup, a leading comprehensive human resource services company based in Tokyo, is excited to host an online seminar featuring Professor Takashi Namae on June 18th. The seminar, titled 'Implementing Purpose and Ethics Through a People-Centric Approach,' aims to engage executives, HR professionals, and managers keen on integrating these critical concepts into their organizations.
Context of the Seminar
Recent findings from ManpowerGroup's 2026 Global Talent Shortage Survey revealed a startling statistic: 84% of employers in Japan report difficulties in securing talent, marking a significant 7-point increase from the previous year. This ranks Japan second among 41 countries surveyed. As the nation grapples with structural labor shortages attributed to its aging population and declining birth rates, the challenge of securing and retaining skilled employees has never been more urgent.
In such a climate, organizations can no longer rely solely on conventional tactics like salary hikes and benefits improvements. It's essential for each employee to reflect on the question of 'why do I work here?' This article underlines the importance of embedding purpose and ethics within the organizational culture. Company leaders and HR personnel must prioritize creating an environment where employee motivation stems from a clear understanding of the company's purpose and shared values.
However, the adoption of purpose-driven and ethics-based management practices remains a challenge for many companies, often remaining at a conceptual level without practical application. With the rising focus on human capital management—where talent is treated as an asset to be maximized—learning practical strategies for implementing these frameworks is critical.
In this seminar, Professor Takashi Namae, a renowned expert in purpose-driven management, will draw from leading examples, such as Ajinomoto Co., Inc. and Daikin Industries, to elucidate how organizations can effectively transform their operations through a people-centric ethos. This is particularly relevant in times of uncertainty, where maintaining a high purpose and upholding cherished values are paramount for cultivating a principled workforce.
