From June 13 to June 27, 2023, Sunshine City, located in Toshima, Tokyo, is hosting an innovative event called "Sake High Summer Encounter". This event is hosted in collaboration with Koku Bunkai, a major sake distributor based in Tokyo and Tochigi. Guests will experience a delightful fusion of Japanese sake mixed with soda water, known as "Sake High", complemented by the best snacks from twelve participating restaurants located within the Sunshine City shopping complex.

The Concept of Sake High

Sake High, a refreshing way to enjoy traditional sake, combines it with carbonated water in equal parts. Unlike straight sake, this mix gives the drink a lighter mouthfeel while preserving the unique aroma and taste of the sake, making it a perfect choice for hot summer days.

With the consumption of sake declining in recent years, initiatives like this, driven by the "Sake Demand Creation Meeting", are rising to promote the beverage to a broader audience. This summer event aims not only to revitalize interest in sake but also to introduce a new, enjoyable way for people unfamiliar with this traditional drink to appreciate its charm.

Enjoy the Festivities at Sunshine City

Participants can anticipate a festive atmosphere reminiscent of a summer fair at the 3rd-floor Arpa shopping area. The area will feature decorative elements inspired by the Sake High theme, including traditional noren curtains and lanterns to enhance the lively ambiance.

At each of the twelve participating restaurants, visitors can order Sake High paired with exceptional recommended snacks tailored to match the unique flavors of the different sake brands used. Here’s a glimpse of what to expect:

- Tsukiji Shokudo Gen-chan: Offers a Sake High for 572 yen paired with a seafood sashimi platter for 1,980 yen, which includes five types of seasonal fish.
- Chuka Shunsai Ryori Huo: Serves a Sake High priced at 660 yen alongside a beef and cucumber salad for 1,200 yen.
- Hakata Tempura Yamaya: Features a Sake High for 1,200 yen with a selection of tempura for 1,600 yen, perfectly complemented by special sides.
- Jasmine Thai: Enjoy their Sake High for 700 yen with a pork dish for 1,690 yen.
