Collaborative Project: Home Defense Challenge
In an exciting initiative aimed at enhancing home security awareness, Secom Inc. will launch the
Home Defense Challenge on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. The project features exclusive illustrations from two renowned manga artists,
Aoyama Gosho, creator of the beloved mystery series
Detective Conan, and
Takuya Mitsuda, known for his popular baseball manga
MAJOR. This collaboration aligns with Secom's mission to help families create safe and secure homes, prominently endorsed by baseball superstar
Shohei Ohtani.
Background of the Project
The
Home Defense Challenge stems from Ohtani’s recent personal experience of welcoming a new family member, motivating him to partner with Secom. The goal is to foster a strong sense of security in the home—an invaluable space for families. This campaign is the third installment in Secom's series of activities surrounding the theme of safeguarding “important things.” Previous phases included a television commercial and a social media campaign aimed at raising awareness for home security.
The Home Defense Challenge
The
Home Defense Challenge is an engaging web-based test designed for public participation, focusing on essential knowledge for protecting homes against disasters, accidents, and crimes. Participants will face five fun and informative questions revolving around daily life security measures. Upon successful completion of the test, participants will receive a unique wallpaper designed by Aoyama and Mitsuda as proof of their qualifications.
The project will continue to roll out diverse content aimed at further increasing awareness for home security in the weeks to come.
Special Illustrations from Iconic Manga Artists
The collaboration with Aoyama and Mitsuda results in a dream scenario where both esteemed artists contribute their distinctive touches to illustrate Ohtani—a towering icon of baseball excellence. Their individual styles promise to bring a fresh perspective to this unique portrayal.
In his remarks,
Gosho Aoyama expressed his gratitude for collaborating with Takuya Mitsuda, stating, "When I was asked to illustrate alongside a professional baseball manga artist like Mitsuda-sensei, I was surprised and excited. I poured my soul into this drawing, and I hope that those who view it will continue to protect their homes with the same passion and resilience as the Secom team does!"
Similarly,
Takuya Mitsuda shared his excitement, saying, "It’s an honor to depict Shohei Ohtani alongside Aoyama-sensei, a legend in manga. Working on
MAJOR has been a great joy, and I hope this initiative encourages many to become more conscious of home security!"
