Skylight Consulting Transfers ZARIBEE Holdings to WASSHA for Enhanced Growth

Skylight Consulting Transfers ZARIBEE to WASSHA

Skylight Consulting, headquartered in Tokyo, has made a significant strategic move by transferring its entire stake in ZARIBEE, a company focused on bike financing for gig workers in Kenya, to WASSHA, a leading Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) provider in Africa. This transition, effective January 1, 2026, not only marks a major milestone for ZARIBEE but also signifies a collaborative effort to support economic development across the African continent.

Background of ZARIBEE

Founded in 2021, ZARIBEE has been instrumental in providing financial solutions for bike taxi riders, known as Bodaboda, who often struggle to finance their vehicles. The lack of access to affordable financing options has historically put these riders under considerable pressure from high-interest loans and rental fees. ZARIBEE has developed a unique approach to create 'digital credit' through the following strategies:

  • - Rent to Own Model: Riders can achieve vehicle ownership after a rental period of approximately 19 months, making it feasible for them to own essential transportation.

  • - Data Utilization: By leveraging GPS technology, ZARIBEE has enhanced transparency in payment processes through mobile money services like M-PESA, ensuring reliable and efficient payment management.

  • - Track Record: To date, ZARIBEE has provided a total of 5,000 bikes, helping over 1,700 riders attain vehicle ownership, demonstrating its positive impact on the community.

The Transfer to WASSHA

The decision to transfer ZARIBEE's operations to WASSHA stems from a mutual recognition of the need for geographical expansion and strengthening of local operations. With over 12 years of experience operating in five African countries—Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Nigeria—WASSHA has developed robust operational frameworks and a profound understanding of regional market dynamics. The integration of ZARIBEE's mobility and financial services expertise with WASSHA’s extensive business infrastructure is expected to fuel growth and improve livelihoods across Africa.

Future Outlook

Under the new agreement, Skylight Consulting will transfer operational control of ZARIBEE and acquire shares in WASSHA. This strategic partnership aligns with Skylight's vision to 'create a better future together.' Motivated by the passion of ZARIBEE's founding members to make a lasting impact in Africa, the merger with WASSHA is anticipated to harness combined knowledge and resources to deliver unprecedented value to the community.

As a stakeholder, Skylight will collaborate closely with WASSHA, which aspires to empower communities through business solutions under the motto 'Power to the People.' This partnership represents a commitment to accelerating economic growth within Africa and enhancing living standards for its citizens.
