Empowering Athletes: Team Nutrilite's Support Program Explained

On October 10, 2025, Amway Japan, headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, hosted a media briefing for its Team Nutrilite™ Athletes Support Program, aimed at empowering athletes to achieve their dreams. During the event, participants were introduced to Amway's commitment to the development of athletes' physiques and nutrition management.

Currently, Team Nutrilite boasts a diverse roster of 69 athletes across various fields, including major sports, parasports, and lesser-known minor sports. The age range of these athletes spans from 9 to 67 years old, who continually strive for excellence on both domestic and international stages.

The event commenced with an address from Yasunori Watanabe, Chief Marketing Officer, who highlighted Amway’s longstanding philosophy of helping individuals lead fulfilling lives, which resonates deeply with the aspirations of athletes. He noted, "The Team Nutrilite™ program, launched in 2019, embodies this ethos as we support athletes in realizing their dreams while contributing to Japan’s sports community and society as a whole."

Following this, Noriko Goto, Executive Director of the Japan Supplement Association, delivered a presentation focused on the role of supplements for athletes. She outlined the four main functions of supplements: replenishing nutrients that are often underestimated, assisting in training efficiency, promoting recovery, and supporting immunity. Goto also elaborated on the significance and timing of protein intake, emphasizing the different roles of whey, soy, and casein proteins in athletes' diets, particularly in combating the oxidative stress resulting from intense training.

Inferred in Goto's discussion was the necessity for athletes to be informed when selecting supplements, especially regarding anti-doping certification, to ensure their safety and compliance. Two athletes in attendance actively engaged with her insights, indicating their deep interest in the topics presented.

The talk session followed, with Goto facilitating a dialogue that included Team Nutrilite athletes Hayato Nishiuchi, a wrestler, and Haruki Suyama, a platform diver. They shared insights into their specific dietary habits, training methods, and the critical role that reliable nutritional supplements play in supporting their competitive lives. Both athletes expressed their strong commitment to excelling in upcoming international championships and Olympic events.

In addition, the session featured an introduction to the plant-based supplemental brand Nutrilite™ and its products, which hold the Informed Choice anti-doping certification, thus providing assurance for athletes that they can safely use these products in their nutrient intake regimen.

Hometown: Shimane Prefecture
Achievement: Winner of the men's 3-meter synchronized diving event at the 2025 Tsubasa Japan Diving Cup and participant in the 2025 World Swimming Championships in Singapore, targeting a spot in the Los Angeles Olympic team.
