Spectee Addresses Climate Resiliency at APEC Infrastructure Meeting

On June 17, 2023, Spectee, a disaster tech startup based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, participated in the '2025 APEC Quality Infrastructure Project: Promoting Climate-Resilient Urban Development,' held by Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. The conference brought together government officials from APEC economies to share their initiatives and engage in public-private dialogues aimed at achieving climate-resilient urban development.

The event featured Spectee's COO and Head of Overseas Business, Satoru Nagaro, who introduced the company's AI-powered real-time disaster management service, 'Spectee Pro,' which is currently in operation in Japan and the Philippines.

In a statement, Satoru emphasized the growing importance of economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, especially as climate-induced natural disasters pose significant challenges to sustained growth. 'We believe that through our business efforts, Spectee can contribute to enhancing societal resilience. This meeting provides an excellent platform for sharing our initiatives and their value with all attendees,' he said.

Understanding Spectee's Mission

Founded in 2011, Spectee operates under the mission of making crises visible. By analyzing data from various sources – including social media, weather data, navigation systems, and live feeds from roads and rivers – the company works to visualize disaster impacts and predict them effectively. The flagship product, 'Spectee Pro,' enables rapid collection, visualization, and forecasting of disasters and crises occurring globally, making it invaluable for local governments, media, infrastructure companies, manufacturers, logistics firms, and trading companies. Notably, the service has surpassed 1,000 contracts by July 2024.

Since last year, Spectee has also aggressively expanded into international markets, most notably in the Philippines, where over 80 licenses have already been deployed to central and local government agencies, showcasing the utility of 'Spectee Pro'.

Furthermore, the company offers another service, 'Spectee SCR' (Supply Chain Risk management), tailored for the manufacturing industry. This service visualizes supply chain operations and enables immediate awareness of any crises occurring near suppliers. Customers can swiftly assess the impact on production, delivery delays, and the overall effects on their products – a critical feature in today's fast-paced supply chain environment.

Looking Ahead

As highlighted during the APEC conference, the combination of climate change and natural disasters necessitates innovative solutions like those provided by Spectee. The company's commitment to resilience and public safety is increasingly crucial in a world where environmental threats are escalating.

Spectee continues to drive its mission forward, leveraging advanced technology to protect communities and facilitate better emergency responses. The importance of their services will only grow as urban areas face the harsh realities of climate change, making Spectee a company to watch in the years to come.
