Huawei and HM Hospitals Partner for Global Smart Healthcare Trial

On March 5, 2026, during the MWC Barcelona 2026, Huawei introduced a summit themed "AI+, Accelerating Healthcare Intelligence". This event was significant as it brought together esteemed global health professionals, academics, and industry partners to forecast the future of digital and smart healthcare. Huawei officially launched the Global Smart Healthcare Showcase in collaboration with HM Hospitals located in Spain.

Huawei's Vice President and CEO of Global Public Sector BU, Li Junfeng, highlighted that HM Hospitals represents Huawei's first venture into smart healthcare in Europe. The partnership aims to integrate China's leading digital technologies with European healthcare expertise, creating a practical roadmap for enhancing the global healthcare industry through intelligence.[^1]

In his keynote address, Xavier Tarrago Bonfill, the Digital Transformation Project Director at HM Hospitals, elaborated on the trial's technical architecture and implementation successes. By upgrading digital and smart infrastructure and utilizing Huawei’s solutions, such as Medical Technology Digitalization and Smart Hospital Campus offerings, both entities are pushing forward the construction of intelligent hospitals.

For campus and service management scenarios, a combination of Wi-Fi 7 and high-performance devices matched with 2.5GE wired access addresses clinical requirements for low latency and high bandwidth. Furthermore, the deployment of CloudCampus and CampusInsight platforms facilitates intelligent network operation and maintenance. In the medical technology domain, the partners enhanced the hospital information system (HIS) and picture archiving and communication system (PACS), using Huawei’s gateway-less, active-active, all-flash storage solution to ensure continuous healthcare operations.

The alliance also integrates a medical data lake based on scalable storage, which enables the automatic stratification of vast amounts of unstructured files. This not only addresses the evolving needs of imaging and pathology systems but also lays a high-speed digital foundation for intelligent diagnosis and treatment
