Akkodis and the Future of Sustainable Mobility



In a groundbreaking initiative, Akkodis, a prominent global digital engineering firm under the Adecco Group, has announced its involvement in the EU-funded project known as FEDORA (Federation of Network Optimisation Services, Simulation Foresights, and Data Alchemy for Adaptable, Agile, Secure, and Resilient Multimodal Traffic Management). This ambitious project, officially launched on June 1, 2025, seeks to address pressing challenges in urban mobility through innovative traffic management solutions.

FEDORA brings together a consortium of leading European partners with the goal of creating more effective transportation systems that align with sustainability targets set forth by the European Union. As urban areas continue to grow, traditional traffic management systems have struggled to keep pace, stifling efficient mobility and compromising environmental goals. The FEDORA project aims to overcome these limitations through the development of a comprehensive digital platform that allows for real-time forecasting and sensing of transport demand and supply, ultimately, improving the movement of people and goods.

Key Objectives of the FEDORA Project


The initiative aims to deliver a federated digital ecosystem enabling advanced data processes. This will not only promote collaboration among different modes of transport but will also enhance the overall management of urban mobility. One critical aspect of FEDORA is the establishment of a collaborative data space, where interconnected services can be developed, revolutionizing traffic management optimization.

Furthermore, the project will simulate various scenarios of future mobility through multi-modal environments. Over six distinct themed demonstrations set to launch in different locations, including Vienna, the Basque Country, Reggio Emilia, Nicosia, Budapest, and Copenhagen, the project will validate its approach across diverse urban and rural conditions, infrastructure maturity levels, and various types of mobility services. Notably, the first of these demonstrations will take place in Vienna in the summer of 2026.

Akkodis' Expertise in Action


Akkodis brings a wealth of experience to the table, having led the Horizon 2020-funded MobiDataLab project that focused on optimizing data sharing among mobility stakeholders across Europe. This previous project has laid the groundwork for FEDORA, with methodologies and cloud-based services that will be expanded under the new initiative. By utilizing proven strategies from MobiDataLab, Akkodis aims to foster a new era of transport networks that not only meet but exceed the current sustainability benchmarks.
