Valmet's Beyond Circularity Program Concludes
Valmet Oyj proudly announces the completion of its groundbreaking research and development initiative,
Beyond Circularity, which has spanned four years under the auspices of Business Finland's Veturi initiative. Launched in 2022, this ambitious program brought together a remarkable coalition of over
370 partners, aiming to catalyze sustainability and bolster customer efforts toward carbon neutrality and a green transition.
Scope and Impact of the Program
Throughout its duration, Beyond Circularity strived to fulfill Valmet's sustainability objectives and elevate our technological aspirations. This extensive program focused on seven strategic areas that spanned critical domains including recycling, bio-refining, and resource efficiency. The integration of innovative automation techniques and the exploration of disruptive business models were pivotal in shaping the program's outcomes.
Olli Hänninen, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Transformation at Valmet, articulated the program's significance: "The results of Beyond Circularity fortify Valmet's status as a technology leader in the green transition. The advancements we've made are not only remarkable but intrinsic to our strategic direction. We are committed to transforming industries for a more regenerative future."
Comprehensive Collaboration and Employee Engagement
This initiative was not limited to a single department but rather encompassed a
company-wide effort, engaging various sectors and drawing contributions from over
400 employees. Viivi Villa-Nuottajärvi, Vice President of Strategic R&D, emphasized the cooperative spirit cultivated through this initiative: "We have learned to function in an ecosystem-driven manner, working alongside
370 ecosystem partners on
47 collaborative projects. This initiative has catalyzed one of our most significant collaborative endeavors, driving a cultural transformation toward enhanced teamwork across Valmet."
Legacy of Beyond Circularity
Looking back, Beyond Circularity has not only expedited Valmet's journey towards sustainability but also forged a solid foundation for lasting partnerships within the industry. Virpi Puhakka, Director of Ecosystems at Valmet, stated: "The program has accelerated our sustainability trajectory and set the stage for continuous innovation and collaboration across industries. Its impacts will manifest through new partnerships and solutions that will significantly support the green transition moving forward."
Future Prospects
Many of the ecosystems established during the Beyond Circularity program will persist beyond its formal conclusion. This continuity ensures that collaborative efforts towards a circular economy and promoting green transitions remain vigorous in the forthcoming years, pledging sustained innovation and partnership.
As Valmet moves ahead, the collective achievements of this initiative will pave the way for ongoing advancements in sustainability.
