Asian Community Development Council Partners with Sands Cares Accelerator to Enhance Community Support

ACDC Partners with Sands Cares Accelerator

Las Vegas Sands recently announced that the Asian Community Development Council (ACDC) has become a part of the Sands Cares Accelerator. This program aims to empower nonprofit organizations for more significant community impact and is notable for its three-year support structure. As the ninth organization to join this initiative, ACDC seeks to expand its capabilities and build a permanent community hub serving the Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) population.

The Sands Cares Accelerator acts as a catalyst for nonprofits like ACDC by providing funding, facilitation, and strategic guidance to help achieve their unique missions. ACDC's specific goal is to create a dedicated space that fosters community connections, offers access to essential services, and empowers the AANHPI community through a range of programs and resources.

Vida Lin, the founder and president of ACDC, expressed her gratitude for the support, stating, "The opportunity to develop our community space with the resources of the Sands Cares Accelerator will help us turn our long-held vision into a reality." This sentiment resonates considering ACDC's history of advocating and providing valuable services to the AANHPI community since its charter in 2015.

Over the years, ACDC has made significant strides in enhancing the welfare of its community members, providing services such as voter education, health care enrollment assistance, and culturally relevant food distribution. Their programs have served as vital resources for many individuals seeking connection and support.

Financial backing from Sands includes a generous $150,000 donation allocated towards ACDC's API Language Link program and youth development initiatives like the College Readiness Boot Camp and the Trade School Boot Camp. Such support is designed to enhance the accessibility of essential services and programs.

The Sands Cares partnership is not new for ACDC; it began in 2021 when Sands first funded the API Language Link, a translation service that facilitates access to various community services for individuals from diverse language backgrounds. This funding has been instrumental in aiding the provision of services, which include assistance with voter registration, health insurance, and food aid.

Ron Reese, the senior vice president of global communications and corporate affairs at Sands, shared his confidence in ACDC's capacity to achieve its long-term goals, stating, "Over the last five years, ACDC has demonstrated success in delivering on its objectives. The Sands Cares Accelerator provides the perfect platform to make their vision of a centralized community space a tangible reality."

As part of its dedication to corporate responsibility, Sands seeks to continue the visionary legacy of its founder, Sheldon G. Adelson by fostering the growth of philanthropic initiatives that advance community capacities. ACDC joins a notable roster of organizations in the Sands Cares Accelerator program, including the LGBTQ+ Center of Las Vegas and global partners like Sustaincia and Art Outreach in Macao and Singapore.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in ACDC’s journey towards establishing a cultural and resource hub that will enhance the lives of the AANHPI community in Las Vegas. By creating a space dedicated to connection and empowerment, ACDC foresees a future where community members can access essential services and foster meaningful relationships.
