Bow River Capital's Evergreen Team Expansion Welcomes Erick Podwill as New Director

Bow River Capital Expands Team with Erick Podwill

In a significant move reflecting its growth strategy, Bow River Capital, the Denver-based alternative asset management firm, has announced the addition of Erick Podwill to its Evergreen Private Equity Team as a Director. This expansion aims to enhance Bow River's investment capabilities in the lower middle market, an area crucial to its operational focus.

Welcoming a New Leader

Jeremy Held, Managing Director at Bow River Capital, expressed enthusiasm regarding Podwill's appointment. He stated, "We are thrilled to welcome Erick to our growing team." His acknowledgment stems from Podwill's extensive experience in private markets, robust relationships, and a proven track record in underwriting, making him a perfect fit for this integral role. Podwill is transitioning from Canterbury Consulting, where he served as Chair of the Private Capital and Fund of Fund Research Committees. His responsibilities included overseeing investment selections for Canterbury's private equity Fund of Fund strategy.

Erick Podwill's experience further extends to Aksia Torrey Cove Capital Partners, where he focused on due diligence across private equity, growth equity, and venture capital investments. His decade-long background in private market sourcing, underwriting, and monitoring positions him as a considerable asset to Bow River Capital. Within his new role, Podwill will also join the Evergreen Fund Investment Committee, contributing as a voting member.

Vision for Growth

Upon joining Bow River, Podwill shared his excitement about contributing to the Evergreen Fund's growth and success. He noted the alignment of Bow River's focus on the middle market and its diversified approach to private market investing with his own personal and professional passions. Podwill anticipates collaborating with the talented team to identify compelling investment opportunities, ultimately leading to long-term value for their investors.

Recent Investments and Growth

The Evergreen team at Bow River Capital has already made impressive strides in its investment activities over the past year. Podwill's addition comes following the recruitment of Teague Towner from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians' Sovereign Wealth Fund and Amanda Krakauer from Blackstone Strategic Partners. These new hires demonstrate Bow River's commitment to assembling a strong team equipped to make strategic investment decisions.

Launched in May 2020, the Bow River Capital Evergreen Fund provides investors access to a vast array of private market investments characterized by varying vintage years, geographical reach, and company sizes, with a notable emphasis on middle market private equity. As of September 1, 2025, the Evergreen Fund has successfully executed over 120 transactions, granting exposure to numerous private companies and has recently surpassed $990 million in assets.

Focus on Middle Market Investments

Bow River Capital has been dedicated to middle market investing for over twenty years, seeking to offer investors a private equity portfolio specifically tailored to this niche. The firm’s ultimate goal is to provide differentiated sources of returns to its investors, especially during times of market volatility. The addition of Erick Podwill is a strategic step towards achieving that goal, as his expertise aligns perfectly with the firm's long-term vision.
