Major Medical Devices Welcomes Martin Sylvain to Board of Directors, Enhancing Leadership

Major Medical Devices, Inc. Expands Leadership with Martin Sylvain

Major Medical Devices, Inc. has recently declared the upcoming appointment of industry veteran Martin Sylvain to its Board of Directors. With a distinguished career spanning more than 35 years, Mr. Sylvain is set to bring invaluable insight and experience to the table, particularly in the realm of medical devices.

Having previously served at Gore Medical from 1995 until 2019, where he pioneered commercialization efforts, Mr. Sylvain played a crucial role in positioning Gore as a leading name in surgical and endovascular stent graft technologies. His extensive background includes significant leadership roles such as Chairman of the Board for WL Gore Canada, as well as participation in the Associate Stock Ownership (ASOP) committee. After retiring from Gore, he took on the role of Board member for the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery's Foundation, further emphasizing his commitment to advancing vascular treatments. Notably, he is recognized as an honorary member of the Society of Clinical Vascular Surgery, making him the only non-physician to receive such an honor. He also actively engages with the Society of Vascular Surgery-Affiliate (SVS), the American Venous Forum (AVF), and is a member of the Royal Economics Society.

Currently, Mr. Sylvain plays a strategic role on the board of ViTAA Medical Solutions, acting as Chief Advocacy Officer and Strategic Advisor for AOTI, with additional advisory roles for BIBA Medical North America.

On his new endeavor with Major Medical Devices, Mr. Sylvain expressed enthusiasm, stating, “I am thrilled to join Major Medical Devices' leadership team at this important stage of the company's development.” He highlighted the company’s innovative AxSES™ device, which offers an ultra-low-profile AAA/iliac stent-graft and delivery system, promising broad applicability and potential for minimizing costs related to outpatient procedures. The device features a unique design with a narrow 11 Fr implant, a 12 Fr sheath, and a single-arm shoulder access point, making it particularly advantageous for challenging anatomical cases.

Eric Curtis, the CEO of Major Medical Devices, shared his excitement regarding Mr. Sylvain's appointment, stating, “Martin Sylvain joining our Board of Directors is an honor for all of our highly talented and dedicated people at Major Medical Devices.” Curtis added that Sylvain's extensive experience in the abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) market greatly complements the company’s mission.

Major Medical Devices is on a mission to push the boundaries of innovation in AAA patient treatments, and with Sylvain’s leadership, they plan to focus on developing their cutting-edge device designed to cater to patients who have been previously deemed unsuitable for traditional endovascular repairs due to their smaller vascular anatomy. The vision is clear—to create an ultra-low profile, repositionable, and fully retractable stent graft and delivery system that can effectively treat a wider range of AAA patients.

In summary, the addition of Martin Sylvain not only enhances the Board of Directors at Major Medical Devices but also fortifies the company’s commitment to innovation in vascular interventions. Industry experts and stakeholders alike are eager to see how his leadership will steer the company towards its ambitious goals, especially with the promising AxSES device at the forefront of their product offerings.
