Launching New Resources for Women’s Health
In a significant move to support women's health initiatives, the
Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) has unveiled its latest online offerings on the occasion of
Women’s Health Week. The new resources are designed specifically to provide reliable and accessible information regarding breast cancer for women, caregivers, and anyone concerned about their health.
The launch features two primary resources:
About Breast Cancer and a comprehensive
Breast Cancer Glossary, which serve as essential tools for individuals seeking knowledge about breast cancer risk and the disease itself. This initiative is a timely response, especially considering that breast cancer remains the most prevalent cancer among women, with increasing cases being reported, particularly among those under 40 years of age.
BCRF's President and CEO,
Donna McKay, emphasized the importance of delivering high-quality content that can assist individuals throughout their breast cancer journey—from prevention and diagnosis to treatment and survivorship. “By offering clear, evidence-based guidance alongside insights from BCRF-funded research,” she noted, “the Foundation is providing crucial support at every stage.”
The Importance of Trustworthy Information
The prevalence of misinformation related to health topics, particularly cancer, is a growing concern. According to a 2018 study by the National Cancer Institute, nearly 70% of adults in the U.S. looked for health-related information online. Unfortunately, content that is misleading often garners greater engagement than factual information. BCRF aims to counteract this trend by equipping women with accurate information.
Dr. Dorraya El-Ashry, BCRF's chief scientific officer, remarked, “Women deserve more than hope—they deserve real knowledge and empowerment.” Drawing on the words of BCRF founder
Evelyn H. Lauder, she expressed the foundation's commitment to disseminating empowering knowledge that can lead to better health outcomes for women.
New Resources Overview

Elizabeth Sile, director of content at BCRF, articulated the goal: “Whether you're facing your risk, undergoing treatment, or navigating a metastatic breast cancer diagnosis, research-backed resources are critically important, especially when misinformation is prevalent online.”
