Charter Day on the Hill: Honoring 25 Years of Charter Schools in Utah



On January 21, 2025, a significant milestone will be reached as the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools hosts the Charter Day on the Hill event at the Utah State Capitol. This occasion marks a quarter-century of charter schools in the state, celebrating their impact on educational innovation and parental school choice.

National Significance


This year, the event aligns with National School Choice Week, recognized for its emphasis on educational options across the nation. During this week, more than 27,000 activities are planned across the country to highlight the benefits of school choice, showcasing the effectiveness of charter schools in promoting student-centered learning environments.

Event Highlights


The Charter Day celebrations are expected to welcome over 900 students from nearly 40 charter schools around Utah. The festivities will kick off at 11:00 AM and continue until 2:00 PM, offering attendees a chance to engage with their lawmakers while enjoying impressive performances by students.

Among the performances, attendees can look forward to:
  • - Japanese Taiko Drummers from Ignite Entrepreneurship Academy
  • - An orchestra from Vista School
  • - The Jump Rope Team from Canyon Rim Academy
  • - A choir will perform
