Hard Rock Heals Foundation Pledges $400,000 for Hurricane Melissa Relief in Jamaica

The Hard Rock Heals Foundation, the charitable branch of Hard Rock International, has launched an extensive relief initiative called "Stay Strong Jamaica" following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa. In a significant move, the foundation raised over $400,000 to support the country’s recovery efforts after the catastrophic storm struck Jamaica in October 2025, inflicting nearly $9 billion in damages and leaving thousands without homes.

The funds raised will go directly to assist Jamaica’s Promise, a reputable non-profit organization that provides essential support and resources aiding local organizations on the ground. This collaboration aims to enhance housing, repair infrastructure, and provide humanitarian assistance to those most affected.

During the announcement, David Hoenemeyer, COO of Seminole Gaming, reflected on the personal connection the team has with Jamaica. The foundation’s commitment is not just a corporate responsibility but a heartfelt initiative underscored by the significant number of Jamaican team members within the Hard Rock family, particularly over 300 who work at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.

The monumental relief effort shed light on the importance of community in times of crisis. Moreover, a benefit concert on January 2, 2026, at Hard Rock Live brought together some of Jamaica’s most celebrated musicians including Shaggy, Julian Marley, and Inner Circle. This concert was not only a fundraiser but also a celebration of the spirit and resilience of Jamaican culture, reinforcing the connection between music and community healing.

Hard Rock International, together with Seminole Gaming, contributed $100,000 to kick off this relief effort, showcasing the commitment to not just support, but actively empower the recovery process in Jamaica.

The ceremony, during which the check was presented to Chris Benjamin, Board Member and Director of Jamaica's Promise, was graced by the presence of Olivia Grange, Jamaica’s Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, as well as Oliver Mair, the Consul General of Jamaica to Miami. Their presence highlighted the collaborative effort not only between institutions but also between governments and organizations striving to bring relief and support to the community.

“Jamaica is deeply grateful to the Hard Rock Heals Foundation for their generosity. This contribution will substantially improve the lives of many Jamaicans affected by Hurricane Melissa,” said Minister Olivia Grange during the check presentation.

Chris Benjamin added, “The partnership with Hard Rock Heals Foundation reinforces the power of collaboration in rebuilding communities. The raised funds will be allocated to national recovery initiatives through Jamaica’s disaster preparedness office, ensuring timely assistance and support for those severely impacted by the hurricane.”

Since its inception, the Hard Rock Heals Foundation® has launched various philanthropic endeavors, driven by the belief that music serves as a powerful catalyst for healing and improvement within communities worldwide. Since the launch of its grant program in 2016, the Foundation has had a substantial positive impact, supporting local organizations in numerous communities globally.

Hard Rock International has established itself as a prominent global partner in charity and disaster relief, leveraging its vast network and cultural influence to provide aid where it is most needed. The initiative not only emphasizes the company’s willingness to give back but also instills hope and resilience within those affected.

Further, the Hard Rock Live venue at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood has been hailed as a premier entertainment destination, featuring top-tier performances where events like this benefit can thrive, fostering a connection between music and community support.

As the fundraising initiative continues, both organizations encourage the public to contribute and engage with efforts designed to uplift and rejuvenate Jamaica following this natural disaster. The aim is to ensure that through united efforts, Jamaica can rebuild stronger and reach new heights.
