On May 28, 2024, we announced the details of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics 5th Anniversary Special Stage. We are excited to invite about 300 attendees to this memorable event, featuring special guests like Gorō Inagaki, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, and Shingo Katori. These prominent figures, known for their ties to the Paralympics, will host a talk show reminiscing about the emotional experiences from the event. We encourage everyone to apply for this opportunity!

Event Details:


  • - Date: August 30, 2024 (Sunday) from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM (tentative)
  • - Location: Tokyo International Forum Hall B5 (3-5-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda City)
  • - Organizer: Tokyo Metropolitan Government
  • - Support: Japan Para-Sports Association and Japan Paralympic Committee

What to Expect:


This special stage will highlight stories and messages collected from the public, aiming to evoke the remarkable memories and emotions experienced during the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. The program will include demonstrations by para-athletes, insightful discussions, and a special performance of 'Ameagari no Step' by Inagaki, Kusanagi, and Katori.

How to Attend:


The event is free, but requires prior application. Interested individuals can apply from today until July 30, 2024. Details regarding the registration process are provided below.

Featured Guests:


  • - Mami Tani (Paratriathlon) - Competitor in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics and a member of the Japan national team. Participated in the long jump across three Paralympic Games (London 2012, Beijing 2008, Athens 2004).
  • - Daisuke Ikizaki (Wheelchair Rugby) - Winner of the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics and bronze medalist at Tokyo 2020 and Rio 2016.
  • - Shinji Neki (Wheelchair Basketball) - Para-support ambassador and deputy village head for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Athlete Village, captain of the Japan men's team at the Sydney 2000 Paralympics.
  • - Tokyo 2020 Official Mascots: Miraitowa and Someity.

Call for Stories:


We are also inviting you to share your experiences related to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. Some of the submitted stories may be presented by Inagaki, Kusanagi, and Katori during the event. Reflect on the courage and inspiration you felt during the Games, or how your perspective on a society of coexistence has changed over the past years.
