Global Produce Partners with WORLD CLEANUP DAY 2026: A Commitment to Environmental Sustainability
Global Produce, a leading event production company based in Shibuya, Tokyo, is proud to announce its continued sponsorship of the
WORLD CLEANUP DAY 2026, organized by the
NPO WORLD CLEANUP DAY JAPAN. The event is set to take place from
September 1 to 30, 2026, culminating in activities coinciding with the
UN International Day on
September 20. The company has been actively involved in similar initiatives since 2023, demonstrating its commitment to environmental responsibility by engaging its employees in local community cleanup efforts.
Environmental Ministry Calls for Nationwide Cleanup Participation
On August 28, 2026, the
Ministry of the Environment released a statement encouraging participation in nationwide cleanup activities that correspond with
World Cleanup Day on September 20. The statement outlined that a significant global effort involving around
25 million participants from
190 countries took place in
2025, with
30,294 individuals joining in Japan alone. The ministry also emphasized the importance of collaboration among individuals, local governments, NGOs, corporations, and research institutions to tackle issues related to marine plastic waste through the
Plastic Smart campaign.
About WORLD CLEANUP DAY 2026
World Cleanup Day began as a citizen movement in Estonia in
2008 and has evolved into a global day of cleaning and bringing awareness to environmental issues, celebrated on the same day around the world since
2018. The United Nations formally recognized
September 20 as the
International Day during the
2023 General Assembly. The event period in Japan encourages all participants to engage in cleaning efforts from
September 1 to 30.
Event Collaboration Background
Global Produce’s alignment with
WORLD CLEANUP DAY stems from its vision of delivering happiness globally through event production. The company organizes over
200 large-scale business events annually and addresses the environmental impacts associated with events at both the planning and implementation phases. Their involvement in cleanup initiatives reflects their commitment to reducing environmental burdens and caring for the communities where they operate.
Last Year's Initiatives: Employee Cleanup and Award Recognition
On
September 19, 2025, approximately
30 employees from Global Produce participated in a team-based cleanup session in the
Shibuya to Omotesando area. This initiative involved sorting waste as they collected it, ensuring that collection and disposal were sustainable through partnerships with local facilities. In recognition of their efforts, the company provided its venue, the
TOWN HALL in the Aoyama Oval Building, for the
WORLD CLEANUP DAY 2025 Reporting Meeting and Awards Ceremony, which led to them receiving the
Special Thanks Award for contributions made during the event.
This Year's Initiatives: Sponsorship and Employee Involvement in Cleanup
Continuing its commitment, Global Produce will once again sponsor
WORLD CLEANUP DAY 2026 and actively involve employees in cleanup activities. Just like last year, teams will engage in waste collection in the
Shibuya and Omotesando regions, focusing on responsible waste sorting practices.
