About Juri Hayashi
Juri Hayashi, born in Osaka in 1989, is a contemporary Japanese painter and graduate of the Tokyo University of the Arts' doctoral program in cultural heritage preservation. Her works are centered around traditional Japanese painting techniques and materials such as washi, ink, and mineral pigments. Inspired by the ‘nijimi’ and ‘tarashi-komi’ techniques from the Edo period’s Rinpa School, she explores dialogues with nature through her art.
In her recent 'Sawari' series, Hayashi travels to various locales to capture the essence of each place, using its soil as a canvas and creating spontaneous artworks that reflect the subtle 'sound' of the environment.
