JA SOLAR and Borussia Dortmund Team Up for Solar Innovations in Sports

Innovative Partnership between JA SOLAR and Borussia Dortmund

In a groundbreaking move towards sustainability, JA SOLAR, a leading manufacturer of photovoltaic modules, has announced a partnership with the renowned football club Borussia Dortmund. Together, they will implement a new photovoltaic system on the roof of SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, creating the largest solar rooftop installation in the world at a stadium. This initiative stands out not only for its scale but also for its significant environmental impact, as the stadium boasts the highest average attendance in European football.

The project's central goal is to align with sustainable development practices and the long-term environmental objectives of both JA SOLAR and Borussia Dortmund. For the next 30 years, this solar installation is expected to generate reliable green electricity, affirming the commitment of both partners to ecological responsibility and the reduction of carbon footprints.

The newly installed solar modules will generate over 4 GWh of energy annually, contributing to Borussia Dortmund's power needs while substantially reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 1,800 tons each year. This not only enhances the club's energy security but also serves as a leading example for other organizations and industries looking to integrate renewable energy solutions.

JA SOLAR's Full-Black modules have been chosen specifically for this project, aligning seamlessly with Borussia Dortmund's iconic colors. The aesthetics of these modules not only contribute to the solar power generation but also add a modern touch that appeals to residential installations. With the project set to showcase these solar solutions on commercial roofs, it illustrates their versatility and broad applicability.

Carsten Cramer, Managing Director of Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co. KGaA, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting its significance in the planned modernization of the stadium’s photovoltaic system. “This collaboration underscores our commitment to sustainability and innovative technologies,
