EMOOR Donates 75 Bedding Sets to Evacuation Centers in Kumamoto Following Recent Earthquake

EMOOR’s Generosity in Times of Crisis

On August 3, 2026, EMOOR Co., Ltd., headquartered in Tachikawa, Tokyo, took a meaningful step towards aiding communities in crisis by donating 75 bedding sets to evacuation centers in Kumamoto Prefecture's Ukishi. This act of kindness was sparked by the devastation from the Kumamoto Earthquake that occurred on July 28, 2026, aimed at improving the sleeping conditions for those affected by this disaster.

Driven by their ethos of "empowering people around the world through sleep," EMOOR recognizes the enormous strain that inadequate bedding can impose on individuals forced into evacuation living situations, where the environment can be far from restful. This recognition stems from the considerable challenges identified in evacuation centers during past disasters, including the 2011 Tōhoku Earthquake and the Noto Peninsula Earthquake.

The Donation Details

Collaborating with local figures such as former Japanese national soccer player Makoto Oda and Ukishi's Vice Chair of the City Council, Kohei Shikai, EMOOR ensured that their donated items reached the frontline locations effectively. The supplies they provided included 60 sets of “Bedding Convenience” and 15 sets of “Ultra Compact Futon 2”. The goal was not only to support immediate needs but to also enhance the overall safety and comfort for those affected.

Innovative Bedding Solutions

This donation aligns with EMOOR's commitment to quality sleep, especially in uncertain times. The Bedding Convenience set is designed to be compact enough to store easily yet versatile enough to meet various needs, including a functional storage box that can double as seating. Meanwhile, the Ultra Compact Futon 2 collection includes a duvet, mattress, pillow, and storage case, all thoughtfully designed for effective space management without sacrificing comfort.

"The utmost priority during disasters is to protect lives, but the quality of sleep in evacuation facilities subsequently plays a crucial role in maintaining health," commented Koji Takahashi, the representative director of EMOOR. The company strives to enhance the sleeping environment during tumultuous times, relieving some of the burden on those who have lost their homes and stability.

Looking Ahead

EMOOR hopes that this donation will not only enhance the immediate disaster response capabilities of the community but also inspire a culture of preparedness and resilience. It is their belief that comfortable bedding can significantly improve the mental and physical well-being of those affected by catastrophic events.

As they continue their commitment to improve sleeping conditions in evacuation scenarios, EMOOR remains dedicated to their mission of empowering individuals through better sleep practices. They recognize the challenges of displacement and aim to be part of a supportive network helping communities rebuild and recover.
