Announcement of the Second Point Cloud Surveyor Certification Exam

As the surveying industry undergoes digital transformation, the use of laser scanners for point cloud surveying is becoming increasingly essential. Despite the introduction of these advanced technologies, many surveying companies are facing challenges in enhancing field techniques and training new employees.

In response to this, the Real Estate Inspection Guarantee Organization has established a "Point Cloud Surveying Department" aimed at developing new talent, improving technical skills, and promoting the use of laser scanner surveying. As a key part of this initiative, the first certification exam for point cloud surveyors was successfully conducted in February 2025, and due to popular demand from various sectors, a second certification exam is now scheduled.

The upcoming exam will include pre-distributed study materials and instructional videos covering the fundamentals of surveying, measurement procedures with 3D scanners, and relevant legal regulations. On the exam day, participants will also attend a special seminar conducted by an expert instructor before taking the certification test. This certification is supported by esteemed professionals from the National Geographic Institute and the Ministry of Justice, aiming to establish a public standard for necessary qualifications in surveying.

The special seminar for the second certified exam will feature Mr. Noriyuki Kawamura, a part-time lecturer at a surveying vocational school who actively engages in business using 3D scanners. His presentation will be focused on "Fundamentals and Practical Applications of Surveying with Point Clouds." Please note that the Tokyo venue will also have an online broadcast available.
