Introducing Home Evacuation: A New Approach to Disaster Preparedness

Introduction of Home Evacuation Concept

Sankyo Corporation, located in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture, is excited to announce the grand reopening of its disaster supply store, BOUSAI FARM Gyotoku, on June 14. The new store is themed around the concept of "Home Evacuation," encouraging residents of sturdy buildings like condominiums to stay safe and comfortable within their homes during disasters.

Why Home Evacuation?

As natural disasters disrupt daily life and essential services, many people face significant challenges when it comes to evacuation. On top of limited resources immediately after a disaster, people may also struggle with hygiene concerns, privacy invasions, or issues arising from group living—especially the elderly, children, and pet owners.

To address these concerns, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and other authorities recommend that residents in sturdy buildings consider remaining at home rather than immediately heading to evacuation shelters. By promoting a safe and well-prepared household environment, residents can significantly improve their disaster resilience.

Store Features

The newly renovated BOUSAI FARM will not only promote preparedness through essential emergency supplies but will also feature an array of outdoor items that serve multi-functional purposes. These items, selected by staff who are certified disaster prevention specialists, aim to create a fusion of both outdoor and disaster preparedness goods, encouraging customers to explore new products and enjoy shopping in a more enjoyable manner.

Items in the store are chosen to address various disaster scenarios, including suggested minimum supplies for a household during emergencies as well as phase-free items for everyday use. This duality emphasizes the store's commitment to meeting diverse customer needs.

Moreover, to raise awareness about home evacuation, the store will have a comprehensive catalog detailing disaster preparedness supplies and products tailored for home use. This catalog addresses the concerns of elderly individuals who may have challenges navigating online options and assists those uncertain about what supplies to gather for their safety.

Opening Day Events

During the grand reopening, various exciting events are planned:
  • - Tasting of Disaster Food Products & Free Distribution of Outlet Items
  • - Special Sale on Portable Toilets
  • - Experience VR Fire Escape Simulation (reservation required)

The VR Fire Escape Simulation provides an immersive experience to educate participants on what actions to take during fire outbreaks due to earthquakes. It aims to equip individuals with crucial knowledge on safety measures and preparedness, thereby enhancing community awareness and disaster response skills.

Commitment to Community Resilience

Sankyo Corporation's mission with the revamped store is to foster understanding around home evacuation and improve overall disaster preparedness awareness. As a community-centric company, we are dedicated to contributing to the development of a disaster-resilient local environment, ensuring that residents feel safer in the face of inevitable challenges ahead.

Join us on June 14 to celebrate this new approach to disaster preparedness!
