Maurice Hutton Takes Over as Director of Track & Field at The St. James
The St. James Performance Academy is excited to announce the appointment of Maurice Hutton as its new Director of Track & Field, effective immediately. This appointment marks a new chapter for the Academy's competitive running program, as Hutton brings with him an impressive pedigree in coaching and athlete development.
Hutton has made significant contributions to track and field since establishing MVP Track and Field in 2013, a name that quickly became synonymous with excellence in the DC metro area. His recent tenure as the head coach at South County High School in Lorton, Virginia, was particularly noteworthy. Under his leadership, the school successfully clinched VHSL State Championships in 2022 and 2023, alongside runner-up finishes in both 2021 and 2024. His athletes have not only achieved 12 VHSL individual state titles but have also won a total of 31 individual state championships. Furthermore, Hutton has inspired and trained 12 USATF National Champions and has steered his coaching teams to 13 NSAF Nike National Titles, producing a remarkable 63 NSAF Nike All-Americans along the way.

The St. James Track and Field Program is designed to elevate athletes through advanced training methods, increased competition exposure, and comprehensive performance support. Highlights of this program feature:

- - Specialized Strength and Conditioning: Programs specifically designed for track and field competitors.
- - Recovery Resources: Including spa access, cryotherapy, and compression therapy to support athlete recovery.
- - Nutrition Support: Personalized meal planning provided by Vim Victor ensures athletes are at their best.
Hutton's coaching philosophy embodies a holistic approach, integrating technical skill development alongside crucial mental preparation, leadership training, and academic success. He is certified in UK Athletics Sprints Hurdles Emerging Elite, and in 2023, he was honored as the Nike Coach of the Year. His mentorship has paved the way for over 50 NCAA Division I placements, with athletes now competing at various institutions across the nation.
