About the BF Method
The BF Method was first introduced in January 2005 with the launch of the three-story product,
Proudio-BF, and is patented as Japan's first wooden beam “rafter” structure. It was developed to create safe homes that can withstand the frequent disasters in Japan while promoting open living spaces and freedom of lifestyle.
By employing
big columns instead of traditional shear walls and using high-precision joints for robust structure, the BF Method ensures strong earthquake resistance. This innovation allows for flexible room layouts without the constraints of traditional column placements, making it easier to design spacious, minimalist spaces.
Sumitomo Forestry's Vision
Sumitomo Forestry Group spans various areas around wood, including forestry management, timber manufacturing and distribution, residential construction, and biomass energy. Committed to a long-term vision by 2030 called
Mission TREEING 2030, the group aims to enhance carbon capture through forestry and promote wooden construction to secure carbon in the long term, contributing to overall decarbonization efforts in society. Future initiatives will also include promoting ZEH, ZEB, LCCM homes, and net-zero carbon buildings to accelerate CO2 reduction both during and after construction.
