On Wednesday, September 10, from 1:50 PM to 3:50 PM, Yotsuba Academy in Isesaki, Gunma Prefecture, is set to conduct a special class dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This initiative, organized by the Gunma-based cooperative Palsystem, aims to encourage students to reflect on actions and choices necessary for achieving sustainability from a lifestyle perspective.
The engaging session will be led by staff members from Palsystem Gunma, who will share practical examples of sustainable production and consumption practices while enlightening students about the potential of SDGs in shaping a better society. By utilizing quizzes and interactive discussions, the aim is to foster a fun and informative learning environment.
Approximately 130 first-year students will participate in this enlightening event. The lesson will focus on Goal 12 of the SDGs, which emphasizes "Responsible Consumption and Production," alongside pressing environmental issues. Through this course, students will learn about the significance of their actions and decisions in forging a sustainable future. The concept of "ethical consumption" will be introduced, prompting students to consider how their everyday shopping habits can contribute to sustainability.
The special class will take place in the multipurpose room of Yotsuba Academy, situated at 1702-1 Kamiuekihoncho, Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture. Palsystem Gunma has been actively collaborating with educational institutions since 2019 through their "SDGs School Action" program, addressing the community's need for fostering individuals responsible for local SDGs achievement. This ongoing initiative aims to educate the next generation about sustainable practices and responsible decision-making essential for realizing the goals of the SDGs.
As we look toward the future, Palsystem Gunma continues to expand the values of actions and choices that contribute to the realization of SDGs in partnership with local children. By nurturing the values of sustainability, they aim to cultivate responsible citizens who will lead their communities into a sustainable future.
In anticipation of the upcoming International Year of Cooperatives in 2025, it's vital that initiatives like these serve as a catalyst for both awareness and action within schools and communities across Japan. Palsystem Gunma, located at 120-11 Nakadai-cho, Takasaki City, operates under the leadership of Chairwoman Makiko Ohira. They strive to impact and educate the community effectively, reflecting their commitment to building a sustainable society through cooperative efforts.
