Sustainable Week 2025: Discover Sustainable Consumption Tips from October 15 to 28

Sustainable Week 2025: A Step Towards Sustainable Consumption

Introduction
Sustainable Week 2025 is set to take place from October 15 to 28. This event marks the sixth occasion of its implementation, focusing on promoting sustainably sourced products and practices. Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, in collaboration with the Consumer Affairs Agency and the Ministry of the Environment, this initiative is part of the ‘Ahu no Wa 2030 Project’, focusing on food and agricultural sustainability.

What is Sustainable Week?
During the two weeks of Sustainable Week 2025, individuals are encouraged to take ‘small steps’ towards sustainable consumption. Participants will find insights into what products to choose sustainably. Throughout this period, members of the Ahu no Wa Project will organize events at retail locations and online stores nationwide, fostering greater awareness of sustainable practices in food and agriculture.

This year, the theme is “Sustainability as Your Favorite Choice,” aiming to engage consumers and foster a community of fans who are passionate about sustainable products and initiatives. The official Instagram account for the Ahu no Wa Project will feature updates and initiatives from project members, encouraging consumers to share their own sustainable discoveries using the hashtags `#SustainableWeek` and `#Sustainability as Favorite`.

Focus on the 'Mieru Label'
A key aspect of this week includes the sale of agricultural products featuring the 'Mieru Label.' This label rates environmental efforts like greenhouse gas reduction and biodiversity conservation using a star system, enabling consumers to make informed choices based on their impact on the environment. During this event, certain project members will offer products adorned with the Mieru Label. Shoppers who find these items are encouraged to share on social media with `#MieruLabel` and `#SustainableWeek`.

Further details about participating stores can be found on the official website.

About Ahu no Wa Project
The Ahu no Wa 2030 Project aims to promote activities that support sustainable consumption as part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. As of now, 217 companies and organizations are involved in these initiatives.

In line with Sustainable Week, the project has also launched the ‘Sustainable Award 2025’, which seeks submissions for videos showcasing sustainable practices in food and agriculture. Promising entries will not only receive recognition but will also be shared widely, including at international conferences, thus enhancing visibility for sustainable efforts.
