GAC's Feng Xingya Champions User-Centric Green Solutions at WNEVC
GAC's Commitment to Sustainable Mobility
At the recent 7th World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC) held on September 27, Feng Xingya, the Chairman and President of GAC Group, delivered a compelling speech titled "User-Defined Green, Co-Creating a New Future for Mobility." In his address, he elucidated the strategic considerations and practices undertaken by GAC to foster an environmentally friendly and low-carbon transformation in the automotive industry.
Feng highlighted that a user-defined approach to environmental friendliness is pivotal. This strategy focuses on developing cutting-edge technology into targeted solutions that directly cater to user needs, making sustainable transportation both practical and precise.
GAC has been recognized as a Fortune Global 500 company for 14 consecutive years and has made it to Fortune's China ESG Impact List for four years running, showcasing its deep understanding of user preferences. This understanding led to the introduction of the "GLASS Initiative" back in 2021, aiming to establish a comprehensive lifecycle carbon management system. The initiative is built on four pillars: green technology, green products, green manufacturing, and a green ecosystem, showcasing GAC's commitment to delivering safe and reliable green mobility experiences while striving for full CO2 neutrality by 2050.
GAC's Approach to Green Technology
In the realm of green technology, GAC is pursuing a parallel development of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and range-extended platforms, thereby providing a spectrum of options for clean mobility. Emphasizing safety and an intelligent user experience, GAC’s green products are tailored to meet the evolving demands of the market.
On the manufacturing front, GAC is committed to adopting sustainable, intelligent, and high-quality production processes, a commitment reinforced by receiving three awards in the 2025 China Automotive Quality Research (AQR).
Creating a Green Ecosystem
GAC is also advancing its "26 Energy Action" strategy, which aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem by integrating solar energy generation, battery storage, fast charging stations, and battery swap services to support a full-service network. This effort is not merely localized to China but is aimed at global markets, positioning GAC as a developer of low-carbon, environmentally friendly, and intelligent mobility solutions for enhanced living standards.
During the Fortune Global 500 Summit, Feng commented on the future trajectory towards developing new energy solutions and creating a low-carbon economy, with China at the forefront globally. As a testament to its global ambitions, GAC has set up five KD (knock-down) factories worldwide and plans to expand this number to ten by next year, facilitating a shift from exporting vehicles to local production.
GAC's future globalization strategy transcends the simple export of products. It’s committed to the principles of "local, for local, locally integrated, locally operated, and locally engaged." This strategy ensures the provision of smart, eco-friendly mobility solutions tailored to the preferences of users in diverse markets. As GAC pursues this ambitious agenda, it aims to fulfill its goals of both market entry and ascension in the global automotive sector.
